Draft. The operator’s name and contact details have not been filled in yet.
My cat is cuter than yours is a game. These are its rules, and the few legal things that go with running a site where people post photos of their cats. [Operator name] runs it; write to [privacy contact email] with questions.
Who can take part
- Anyone can look, and anyone can judge matchups as a guest.
- You need an account to enter a cat, and you must be at least 13.
- One person, one account. Accounts made to vote more than once are removed.
Your cats and your photos
- Enter only cats that are yours, or that you look after, and only photos you took or have the right to use.
- You keep every right to your photos and words. You give us permission to show them on the site, resize them, make share pictures and link previews from them, and keep a copy of a champion’s photo in the hall of fame. That permission ends when you delete them, except for a champion copy, which you remove yourself.
- Real cats only. No people, no other animals, nothing cruel, nothing that is not yours.
How the contest works
- A cat is entered for the coming week. A week runs from Monday to Monday (the first week may be shorter). Up to three cats per account per week.
- Judges see two cats and pick one. Each judge sees each pair once a week, never their own cats. A skip counts for nothing.
- A cat’s score is its share of wins, smoothed so that a cat with few matchups is not ranked on luck. A guest vote counts for a quarter of a member vote, and guest votes together never weigh more than a quarter of a cat’s member votes.
- When the week ends, the cat ranked first is the champion. The top ten is public; places below it are shown to the owner only. Results are final once announced.
- There are no prizes. The crown is the prize.
- Admins may take votes out of the count, remove an entry, or close guest voting when something is not right. They say why in a log.
Being decent
- No harassment, no insults in names or bios, no spam, no links to anything unsafe.
- Anyone can report a profile, photo or entry. Content reported by three people is hidden until an admin looks. Reports made to harm someone are themselves a reason for a ban.
- “It’s too cute” is a joke button. It changes nothing, and we enjoy the numbers.
- A banned account can still sign in, and cannot vote, enter, post or report. Its cats leave the contest. We tell the person why on the vote screen.
Your account
- Keep your password to yourself. Tell us at [privacy contact email] if you think someone has it.
- You can delete your account at any time on your account page. Your cats, photos and pictures go with it. Your votes and reports stay, with your name removed, so that results stay true.
- We may close accounts that break these rules, and remove content that does. We try to say why.
The site itself
- The site is free and offered as it is. It can be down, change, or lose a week to a bug. We do our best, and we keep backups, and we promise nothing more than that.
- The arcade look is a parody of fighting-game tropes in general. It uses no name, art, sound or character of any game.
- The law of [country] applies. If something goes wrong between us, we talk first.
Changes
When these terms change in a way that matters, the date at the top changes and we say so on the site. Carrying on using the site after that means you accept the new version.
